The tourist cabin Nedre Doraalseter Turisthytte borders Rondane National Park, Norway’s first national park. We have a total of 25 beds spread over 10 rooms in three cabins, as well as a dining room seating 40 people. The rate includes accommodation, a three-course dinner and breakfast buffet. The rate is the same regardless of the type of room/cabin.
You are free to camp in the national park. If you would prefer a site near the cabin, you can camp on the lawn below the cabin or by the river. Campers are welcome to order meals at the tourist cabin and can pay a daily fee to use the ablution block.
Our mission is to provide a pleasant stay for our guests. We wish to welcome you as a guest in the mountains, whether you stay with us for a few days, stop during a mountain hike or drop in to enjoy the fresh mountain air and a cup of coffee.
Nedre Doraalseter Turisthytte sells fishing licenses for Dovre Municipality, and it’s nice to fish in the lake Dørålsvatnet or the river.
Nedre Doraalseter offers a fantastic base for hiking in the national park, a majestic alpine landscape featuring no less than 10 peaks over 2000 m above sea level. You can choose between day hikes or longer hikes of various levels. If you are looking for a family-friendly hike, the fertile valley of Doraalsdalen stretches 10 km from the summer mountain farm and you can hike beside rivers and lakes surrounded by mountains on both sides. The valley is a unique geological area with many excellent fishing spots.
We recommend hiking to Hogronden, Digerronden, Skranglehaugan, Skagsnebbtjern, Verkilsdalen, Bergedalsbekken and Neverbuho, where you can experience an historic cultural landscape, kettle holes and trapping pits.
