Come and experience an unique industrial community from the turn of the century. The area around Folldal Gruver/Mines is built around the copper mine from 1748, and is a national technical cultural heritage. There are about 70 buildings in connection with the old mining environment. Three of these buildings, the Directors Residence, Rallarstua and House 16, are rented out and are all suitable for self catering.
Gruvetoget / The mining train
Stoll 1 is an ancient mine from the 1700s. Along with the building community this is the main attraction of Folldal Mine. Take the train 600 meters into the mine, into Worms Hall. The hall is the goal of the tour, and it is an exciting room for concerts, companies and dining. Sitting inside the mine and hearing the guide telling stories from the mining period is exciting for both young end elderly people.
In connection with the mines, you can see the traditional working exhibition in a completely new room from 2018 and the museum ”From mine to National Park”.
Take a walk on your own and learn about the mining industry, rocks and minerals, landscape development and animal and plant life. Experience local animal species, geology, hunting and catching, and get information about the National Parks.
The Mammoth Malmfred
In the summer of 2017, Mammoth Malmfred came to the mining museum. Malmfred has probably trampled in the mining area 40,000 years ago. Take the walk through the museum and greet him!
